Fall is a time when everything bursts forth with its last beauty of colors, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale. It is the world’s oldest performance art as though everything north of the Mason/Dixon line gets covered with a brown sugar and cinnamon coating. The final days of October are when brown leaves crackle under our feet with their special fall scent. Simple pleasures never grow old.
They do not say in their heart, “Let us now fear the Lord our God, Who gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season. He reserves for us the appointed weeks of the harvest.”
